Ricardo Bouyett began his journey in the arts in 2012 where he dedicated a decade of his life to honing his photographic craft by showcasing his recovery from sexual trauma and navigating the discourse around decolonizing an assimilated mind. Bouyett created prolifically throughout the years, creating large volumes of photographic work alongside the short films he was creating. In 2021, Bouyett made the decision to focus solely on filmmaking and as he worked on his award winning horror short, Even Saints Bleed, he also worked on his 52 week project for his photography. This 52 week project was his farewell to the visual & spiritual journey that helped him confront his trauma with sexual violence, embracing his queerness, navigating the Diasporican state of being, and body dysmorphia.

Below are some personal favorites from all those years of sacrifice and hardship that have informed Bouyett’s best practices in filmmaking today.
